The Farmhouse

The Farm

"Sur les Clos"

The farm originally belonged to the Abbey of Notre Dame d’Oigny. It dates back to the end of the XVIth Century and its buildings illustrate the evolution of the agricultural world up until the XIXth Century. As from the XVIIIth Century it was given the name “The Farm” owing to its considerable size. This name was taken from the oldest historical studies.

The main dwelling dates back to the XVIth Century, as well as its surrounding rural edifices. Two monumental chimneys grace the main rooms. Two vaulted rooms as well as cellars add significant value to this patrimony.

Between the XVIIth and XIXth Centuries, the barns and other buildings were added, enlarging the domain to form a “U”-shaped courtyard. One of these buildings, now the “music barn”, was reconstructed on the ancient, giant stone foundations.

Farming ceased at the beginning of the 1980s but the buildings have been inhabited for a number of years since.
